Lanzarote is relatively a small island if you are driving a car. It takes about 1 hour to drive from Orzola (farthest town north) to Playa Blanca (farthest town south). And it takes about 30 minutes from Caleta Famara (town North West) to Arrieta (town East).

In addition to Arrecife, its capital city, Teguise, San Bartolomé and Tinajo are also major towns with the local population. Many small charming towns are also scattered around rural areas and the coast.

Lanzarote's coastline is lined with beautiful beaches and important tourist centres, like Costa Teguise, Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen. This tourist centers are full of Hotels and touristic attractions and entertainment.

Another feature of the island is an attractive collection of spaces designed by local architect César Manrique, which include Jameos del Agua, the garden of Cactus and the foundation that bears his name.
